Death of a Pig: the recovered outlines
We publish two drafts of the outline of the short film Death of a Pig, shot by Bertolucci at fifteen in 16mm with a Paillard-Bolex borrowed from his father’s cousin. Three months earlier, in the summer of 1956, he had shot his first short film, The Cable Car.
Both disappeared for decades, the short films remain only an abstract and powerful memory, like certain adolescent exploits.
